Latex

How is it made? The latex foam is cast into an aluminium mould, which is only partially filled. The aluminium mold is then closed and a vacuum is created. The foam is then frozen to -20 degrees Centigrade which ensures preservation of the round cell structure. Cells are interconnected, ensuring a high degree of permeability. The advantages of the Talalay process include, a homogenous end product, creation of round cells that ensures greater load bearing capacities and better physical characteristics. The largest benefit of the Talalay process is the ability for the foam to be washed during the creation process. Washing latex foam ensures that proteins, soaps and curing agents can be removed. These natural proteins are the root cause of latex allergies, and thus, if they are removed, the risk to an allergic reaction is minimal. |
